These are some results of various attempts to take pictures of the solar eclipse on 11 Aug 1999.
My own attempt: We had bad luck with the clouds,
thus missed the very best part of it.

In Turkey 2006, I had much better luck with the view.
 Not the best spot… |  …but at least partially fascinating! |
 The moon is eating up the sun… |  …and is spilling it out again. |
 Maximal darkness, amplified by the cloud cover … |  …which apparently ended somewhere east of us. |
The smart (and more professional) approach was to go to Lake Balaton.
